All Free Tips:

Being Thankful for Current Customers

By Kathy Yeager

November is the time to give thanks for all the blessings of this year.  This includes remembering and thanking your current customers.  Here are some ways to build your brand equity with current customers and maybe even book something else for 2012:

1.  Send a Thanksgiving Card instead of a Christmas Card.  It is amazing the impact a Thanksgiving Card has on the customer.  Everyone sends a Christmas Card, but only a few send a Thanksgiving Card.  Your card will stand with only a few others on the decision-maker's desk and raise your awareness with them.

2.  Call to say how much you appreciate their business.  Simply call or stop by just to say how much you value their business and the relationship.  The purpose is not to sell anything--it is to be thankful.

3.  Schedule an End of Year Meeting.  Schedule a one-hour Turbo Meeting between now and December 31st to discuss what was accomplished this year, and their needs and plans for 2012.  Often, businesses are budgeting right now for next year, and your meeting is welcome to help with the planning.

4.  Include current good customers in new product pilots.  As you launch new products and services for next year, reward your good customers by inviting them to a pilot program.  This "First to Try" option elevates the customer's view of their relationship with you and your college, and introduces them to new product and service options they can purchase as solutions.

5.  Feature your current customers in your newsletter.  Take their picture with the company logo behind their head.  Ask them to write a testimonial on how they work with you and your college.  Ask for permission to utilize this information in your marketing materials.  The customer wins because they get free marketing, and the college wins because it shows solutions and outcomes provided to local businesses.
